Toyin Akanni is a British-Nigerian author, speaker and teacher. She spent her formative years in Nigeria before moving to London at sixteen. She holds a Masters in Environmental Science and a Creative writing diploma from the University of Cambridge. When she isn’t in the classroom, she enjoys baking with her three children and sharing various shades of her culture through her writing
We believe that storytelling is the most powerful way to communicate ideas and explain complicated concepts. Climate change and issues around global warming are affecting our world at an alarming rate. Our captivating stories share these issues with the aim of sowing seeds of empathy in the minds of young children.
We know that no one achieves success on their own. It is crucial to encourage young children to share and work well together.
Our Stories highlight environmental concerns facing our world today and teach children that they can also contribute towards fixing the problems
At the Dubai Old Library, families gathered for a mesmerizing event with the author. Amidst the historic shelves, the author shared the book’s origins, diving into the rainforest’s wonders and themes of kindness and bravery.
The reading transported everyone into the story’s heart, echoing with laughter and contemplation. Engaging discussions ensued, as children shared their thoughts on the book’s powerful messages.
After the reading, the author warmly interacted with attendees, signing books and sharing personal moments. Families left inspired, carrying signed copies and a renewed love for kindness, bravery, and the magic of storytelling within the historic walls of the library.
It was an amazing fun day with over 300 children in attendance. The children sang, danced and had an interactive story telling session. The event was concluded with a Q&A session and a call to action that emphasized the importance of animal conservation.
Barki is very scared of the hunter, but he tries to be brave. He likes to see animals happy and free.
Tanga doesn’t like to work with others, but eventually learns that teamwork pays off eventually.
